About Me

Welcome to my practice. I am so glad you are here! My name is Arah and I am a Professional Counselor Associate in Portland, Oregon. I offer individual therapy to adults and young adults. As a counselor, I seek to create a safe space and support the cultivation of your inner guide. My perspective is rooted in my own life experiences and my comprehensive therapeutic training. I believe people can be supported for who they are as individuals.

I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University. My training includes work in community counseling and with young adults in College counseling clinics. My educational studies emphasizing health, wholeness, human development, internal family systems, community, multiculturalism and social justice informs my practice. Before I became a counselor, I had careers in international economic development, business and technology. Therapy can help us clarify who we are and what we need. At times, therapy can give us the space needed to grieve, to feel heard. I have seen this, when I was an adult group facilitator to support grieving families.

My approach to therapy is compassionate and collaborative. I will support you in your journey and meet you where you are at. As we walk this path, you can find the direction you want to go and discover the form you want your life to take. Some things you may be interested to know about my path: I am an Oregon native who spent many years on the East Coast. I am a cancer survivor. In my own life, I have experienced how a supportive presence can help you find your way through life challenges. I enjoy daily walks in nature and find it refreshing and grounding.

I bring to this work a passion for providing a warm and accepting environment, you can feel cared for and seen for who you are. In our sessions, you can expect that I will work with you to restore a sense of safety and balance. Trust in yourself and connection to your own wisdom is a core principle in my therapeutic approach. I hope I can be a support as you navigate this time in your life.

I believe that everyone has an innate capacity for healing and growth. Trust in yourself and connection to your own wisdom is a core principle in my therapeutic approach.

I have a special place in my heart for cedar trees. They remind me of the Pacific Northwest. Imagine a grove of tall cedars, with their delicate red bark, towering over the ground, covered in evergreen ferns, water dripping from their branches. They are strong, graceful, peaceful. They provide shelter and protection. When you walk through a grove of cedars, you are not alone.
